Job Bazaar: employment for 334 youth in Ratnapura
With support from the Youth Employment Project (ILO/Japan), the District of Ratnapura recently undertook a new job bazaar. The event brought together a) young job seekers, b) employers and c) training providers. Some 560 youth took part.

UN-aid to flood hit communities in Sri Lanka

UN Population Fund hands over life saving medical equipment for pregnant women
The United Nations Population Fund, handed over medical equipment worth USD 210,000 to the Governor of the Northern Province, Major General G.A. Chandrasiri, at a ceremony held at the Governor’s Office. The medical equipment will help to meet the reproductive health needs of women and girls in the North, particularly those giving birth and their newborns.

UN Open Government Data Survey
The Division for Public Administration and Development Management (DPADM) of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) is currently working on Open Government Data with UN Member States by developing timely and up-to-date research along with capacity-building on this theme as it becomes an emerging tool for enhancing good governance, transparency and accountability by engaging citizens for a participatory decision-making processes within governments.
