In these challenging times, and as the world battles the COVID-19 pandemic, we are witnessing the commitment and spirit of service of our front-line workers every day. They are the real-life heroes who have put themselves in harm’s way to save lives and provide us with essential services.
On World Humanitarian Day, as we honour humanitarian workers as well as front-line ones from Sri Lanka and across the world, their dedication in battling the pandemic ensures that, for many, daily life continues as safely as possible.
Sri Lankans embody the spirit of community service – this year, with the pandemic affecting virtually all countries, we pay special tribute to the front-line responders and humanitarians who continue to stay and deliver. They are the everyday heroes and demonstrate the solidarity needed to serve our common human family. Supporting their work and safety in the same way we protect humanitarian work is the best way to pay tribute to what they do – every day.
