“To Serve Sri Lankan Migrant Workers Better”

We are pleased to inform you that the ‘Operational Manual for Labour Sections of Sri Lankan  Diplomatic Missions in Labour Receiving Countries’ will be launched by Hon. Dilan Perera, Minister of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare at the Lakshman Kadhiragama Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKIIRSS) No. 24, Horton Place, Colombo 07, on the 4th of January (Friday) 2013 from 4.00 to 7.00pm. Please find attached the draft agenda for your kind information.

The publication of this Operational manual is part of the government efforts to strengthen grievance handling mechanisms by Sri Lankan Diplomatic Missions in countries where Sri Lankans migrate for employment.

We are also taking the opportunity to launch the ILO Commissioned study report on ‘Strengthening Grievance and Complaint Handling Mechanisms to Address Migrant Worker Grievances in Sri Lanka’. Which is an effort to review and analyse available grievance redress mechanisms in Sri Lanka in order to address any gaps.

I kindly invite you to join us at this occasion given the importance of the publication being launched.

I would appreciate if you can kindly confirm your participation to this office with Ms. Sandra Senaratne on 2592525 Ext. 292 or by email (Sandra@ilo.org) or Ms. Renuka Vitharana on 2592525 ext. 296  or by email renuka@ilo.org on or before the 2nd of January 2013.

We look forward to your participation at this important event.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
