Peacebuilding Priority Plan

To guide wider and longer term support for peacebuilding, the UN and the Government have finalised a Peacebuilding Priority Plan (PPP) in close consultation with civil society and development partners. Informed by a Peacebuilding Context Assessment, the PPP will be a common framework, through which the UN and other development partners can align their support against nationally identified priorities, and in so doing ensure a coordinated approach. The framework identifies key strategic priorities in the areas of i) transitional justice; ii) reconciliation; iii) good governance; and iv) resettlement and durable solutions, whilst also including a strong focus on gender and youth.

Joint Briefing on the Peacebuilding Priority Plan to Heads of Diplomatic Missions

On 7 July 2016, the Foreign Minister, Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, and the UN Resident Coordinator a.i., Ms. Una McCauley, held a joint briefing session on the Peacebuilding Priority Plan (PPP) to the Heads of Diplomatic Missions. The briefing provided the opportunity for Heads of Missions to discuss the PPP, its objectives, and progress.
